Digital Media Arts Student Recognized for Web Design –

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) digital media arts student, senior Savanna Anderson, has always been creative.

But she just started learning web design and development in the fall of 2020, when she enrolled in the Digital Media Arts program at the Career Center.

Savanna created a website promoting a YouTube channel, SavannaGamez, for a class project.

With the encouragement of her digital media arts teacher, Lauren Hopkins, she entered it into the Middle 10 Central Unit PA Media and Design Regional Competition Web Page Design Contest and placed first.

This allowed her to qualify for the state competition held on May 24 at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she again placed first in web page design.

“I’m incredibly proud of her,” Hopkins said. “She worked so hard on this project and spent countless hours designing and developing the site, since she coded it entirely herself using HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript.”

“This competition was one of the best experiences of my life,” said Savanna. “I’m elated to have won, but if I hadn’t I would still have left feeling accomplished and happy.

“Those who have the opportunity to have an experience like this should take it. Even if you don’t place, you will still have wonderful memories to take as prizes, and maybe even a new friend.

“I am extremely grateful to everyone who made this experience possible for me.”
