36-year-old web developer detained for tricking man out of Rs 3.40 lakhs into online fraud

Matunga Police have arrested a 36-year-old man and web developer for cheating a person out of Rs 3.40 lakhs. The accused was arrested in Pune.

Police said the complainant Sadashiv Shetty (45) is a resident of Dadar in Mumbai.

Shetty wanted to open an e-bike agency. For this he searched on google for revolt bike company or any help to open an agency. He found a site called electricbikedealers.in and visited the site using his computer. “Shetty was asked to fill in the details on the site. He then received a call from an unknown number posing as an executive. The caller assured Shetty to help open an agency and told him took Rs 3.40 lakhs.

Matunga Police have registered a case under Sections 419, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and the relevant section of the Information Technology Act 2000.

The Matunga Police Cyber ​​Cell team, including Police Sub-Inspector Rajabhau Garad, along with Constable Santosh Pawar amf Mangesh Jarad, opened the investigation and arrested the accused.

Police said the arrested accused was identified as Sugriv Ramgopal Yadav (36), a resident of Thergaon in Pune. Yadav is a web developer by profession.

After his arrest, the team seized a laptop computer, a hard drive, a modem, USB keys, ledgers and checkbooks. “We are further verifying who are all involved in the crime with him,” a police officer said.
